Bulk Waste
Hernando County does NOT pick up bulk items. Curbside collection is provided by Coastal Waste for their customers in the unincorporated area of Hernando County. Bulk items must be scheduled by calling Coastal Waste at (352) 540-6457.
City of Brooksville provides their own collection service. City residents can call (352) 540-3810 for questions about service within the City limits.
Do not place items at the curb until 6 p.m. the night before the scheduled collection. Each Coastal Waste customer may have six bulk collections with up to 10 items per collection included with their curbside service each year. Additional items require pre-payment of an added fee.
Coastal Waste cannot collect items that use freon, gasoline, propane or other flammable or hazardous waste.

Examples of Bulk Waste
Bulk waste is defined as solid waste that may require special handling and management, and which by reason of its bulk, shape or weight, cannot be placed in a container or bundled.
This waste includes, but is not limited to:
- Furniture
- Mattresses
- Non- Freon Appliances (No Refrigerators, freezers, etc.). For safety reasons, please remove or seal doors on all appliances so that children cannot crawl inside and become trapped
- Coastal Waste cannot collect items that use freon, gasoline, propane or other flammable or hazardous waste. Examples of items that cannot be collected include refrigerators, freezers, lawn mowers, propane tanks, etc.
- Glass table-tops, mirrors and similar items will only be collected curbside as bulk in non-broken condition
- Other large, bulky items that cannot be placed in the garbage cart
