Prescription Assistance

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be a Hernando County resident
• Must have an emergency need for prescription assistance
• Must be uninsured
• Prescriptions must be for non-narcotic, non-mental health, and non-sexual stimulant/arousal medications (Health & Human Services makes the final determination on medication eligibility)

Program Details:

• Assistance is limited to once every 12 months per applicant
• Assistance is typically for a 30-day supply, though the County may approve a lesser amount
• Hernando County reserves the right to decline assistance based on cost, available funding, medication type, or stated need

The Coast2Coast Rx Card is a free discount card that can save up to 80% on brand-name and generic medications. No enrollment or eligibility requirements — anyone can use it.

The card covers prescriptions, lab and imaging services, and even some pet medications. While it's designed primarily for uninsured residents, insured residents can also benefit if they have high deductibles, a Health Savings Account (HSA), a medication not covered by their plan, or are in the Medicare Part D coverage gap ("Donut Hole").

In addition to prescription savings, the card offers discounts on dental, vision, hearing, veterinary, and diabetic equipment and supplies. The card is available in English and Spanish.
