Rain Barrel Workshops

Rain barrels collect and store rainwater for outdoor use, helping conserve water and reduce stormwater runoff. HCUD hosts monthly workshops for Hernando County residents.

Rain Barrel Workshops

What is a Rain Barrel?

Rain barrels capture water from a roof and hold it for later use such as on lawns, gardens or indoor plants. Collecting roof runoff in rain barrels reduces the amount of water that flows from your property. It's a great way to conserve water and it's free water for use in your landscape. (US EPA. (2015, August 17). Soak Up the Rain: Rain Barrels.).

HCUD’s Rain Barrel Workshops provide hands-on instruction on how to properly install, maintain, and use rain barrels at home. Participants learn best practices for water conservation and stormwater management and may have the opportunity to purchase or receive a rain barrel as part of the program.
