Florida-Friendly Landscaping

Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ (FFL) means using low-maintenance plants and environmentally sustainable practices. Learn how you can have a beautiful landscape that could save you time, energy and money while protecting our future. Hernando County Utilities funds Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ in Hernando County through the Water Conservation Department. Classes are held to educate citizens about FFL practices and how to save water and money in their landscapes.

Required Landscape Materials for New Development Homeowner’s Associations

For new Developments, the Builder/Developer shall provide new residential property owners with Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program materials and encourage the use of the principles, techniques, and landscaping recommendations.  Information on the County’s Fertilizer Ordinance and fertilizer use is to be included. Educational materials are available through Hernando County Utilities Department.
