Transportation Improvement Program

The Hernando/Citrus Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is developed and updated each year as part of the Hernando/Citrus Area Transportation Study Certification Process.
Maintaining and updating the TIP is one of several prerequisites required for the continued receipt of federal assistance for transportation improvements.

What is the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)?

The TIP is a multi-modal program that identifies improvements recommended through the transportation systems management process and the long-range elements of the regional Transportation Plan.

It is developed through a continuing, comprehensive, and coordinated effort involving the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

FDOT’s Final Tentative Five-Year Work Program provides the foundation for the Strategic Intermodal System, National Highway System (NHS), non-NHS, and Mass Transit portions of the TIP.
