FEMA News Release

Updates to the National Flood Insurance Program Make Flood Insurance More Accessible in Florida

FEMA, which administers the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), announced updates designed to expand access to flood insurance. These changes make it easier for homeowners and renters to choose and pay for a flood insurance policy.

Getting a Flood Insurance Quote

FEMA now offers a Direct to Customer (D2C) Quoting Tool that allows users to:

        • Enter their home address
        • View personalized flood insurance quotes
        • Compare coverage and deductible options
        • Connect with three local insurance agents
        • Download, print, or email the quote

Paying for a Flood Insurance Policy

Coming soon, NFIP policyholders will be able to pay premiums in monthly installments instead of a single annual payment.

      • Available to new and existing NFIP customers at application or renewal
      • Installment plans are offered to policyholders not required to escrow premiums
      • Customers must opt in and authorize automatic electronic payments
(credit card, debit card, or bank account)
      • Monthly payments do not change policy coverage—only payment timing
      • FEMA is coordinating with all NFIP insurers to implement this option
