The Fire Rescue Trainee Program is an entry-level developmental program that prepares individuals for
a career as a certified Firefighter EMT with Hernando County Fire Rescue. It provides paid training,
hands-on experience, and support as you complete the required state certifications.
HCFR Fire Rescue Trainee Program
Hernando County Fire Rescue created the Fire Rescue Trainee Program in response to the statewide shortage of firefighter candidates. This program offers motivated civilians a pathway into the fire service by providing hands-on experience and structured training not otherwise available to non-certified applicants.
