Elevation Certificates (ECs)
FEMA mandates that a community's permit documentation must contain an official record demonstrating the appropriate elevation of new constructions and substantial improvements within all designated Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHAs).
This elevation data is crucial to demonstrate compliance with the floodplain management ordinance. The County utilizes an EC form provided directly by FEMA to meet this obligation, as it serves a dual purpose by enabling property owners to secure flood insurance. Additionally, this adherence is a prerequisite for the County's involvement in the Community Rating System (CRS).
Does my Property Have an Elevation Certificate?

- Type in your address or parcel ID number in the search bar.
- Click on "Access Records" on your property.
No Elevation Certificate on file?
If one is needed, a Florida-licensed surveyor, engineer, or architect can download a blank EC from FEMA's website. Once completed, it can be uploaded directly to the Forerunner Map.
