NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of County Commissioners of Hernando County will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 5:01 pm or soon thereafter, in the Hernando County Government Center, County Commission Chambers, 20 N. Main St. Rm 160, Brooksville, Florida. to consider the following:
AN ORDINANCE OF HERNANDO COUNTY, FLORIDA, AMENDING ARTICLE VII OF CHAPTER 28 OF THE HERNANDO CODE OF ORDINANCES RELATING TO GROUNDWATER PROTECTION AND SITING; AMENDING SECTION 28-263 PROVIDING DEFINITIONS; AMENDING SECTION 28-265 PROVIDING FOR GROUNDWATER RESOURCE, WELLHEAD AND SPECIAL PROTECTION AREAS; AMENDING SECTION 28-266 PROVIDING PROHIBITIONS WITHIN WELLHEAD AND SPECIAL PROTECTION AREAS; AMENDING SECTION 28-267 PROVIDING GENERAL EXEMPTIONS; AMENDING SECTION 28-268 PROVIDING FOR REGISTRATION OF POTENTIAL POLLUTION SOURCES; AMENDING SECTION 28-2699 PROVIDING FOR SINKHOLES; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THIS PROPOSED ORDINANCE may be inspected by the public at the Hernando County Utilities Department Administration Building, 2nd Floor, at 15365 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville, Florida 34613 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, legal holidays excepted. Please visit www.engagehernando.com/hcudpublicawareness for more information on the proposed Wellhead Protection Areas (WHPAs) and Special Protection Areas (SPAs).
YOU HAVE A RIGHT to appear and be heard at this public meeting and/or to send any written objections to the County Commissioners, 15470 Flight Path Drive, Brooksville, Florida 34604, before the hearing date.
YOU ARE FURTHER ADVISED that if any person decides to appeal against any decision made by the Board of County Commissioners with respect to the subject matter of the hearing, that person will need to ensure a verbatim record of the proceedings is made.
