ALL INTERESTED PARTIES within Hernando County are hereby notified that the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners is making application to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for program funds under 49 U.S.C. Section 5307, Urbanized Area Formula Program of the Federal Transit Act, and 49 U.S.C. Section 5339, Formula Grants.

On December 16, 2025, the Board of County Commissioners will be approving the FY2026 Program of Projects budget, and the public is invited to comment.  This public notice of public involvement activities and time established for public review and comments will satisfy the FTA’s Program of Projects requirements.  Unless amended by the Board, grant application will be made based upon this program. 

The Fiscal Year 2026 5307/5339 Program of Projects is consistent with the approved Transportation Improvement Program of the Hernando/Citrus Metropolitan Planning Organization. The Fiscal Year 2026 Capital and Operating Grants provide for a total combined program funding apportionment of $4,507,942. Eligible capital and operating expenses include, but are not limited to preventive maintenance, ADA bus stop improvements, Gillig bus replacement, transit operations support vehicle, transit amenities, shelter amenities, and eligible operating costs for transit service.
