County Administrator

Mr. Leonard B. Sossamon became the administrator in May 2012. He has more than 30 years of local government experience with focused expertise in economic development, community development, financial operations and organizational change and development. The county administrator is the chief administrative officer appointed by the Hernando Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). It is his responsibility to effectively implement all decisions, policies, ordinances and motions made by the BOCC. The county administrator performs these responsibilities through the deputy county administrator, directors, managers and administrative personnel.

Mr. Jeff Rogers, P.E., became deputy county administrator in September 2017. Rogers has more than eight years of local government experience with a concentration in administration, public works, budgeting and overall operational leadership and organization change. He has an aptitude for identifying organizational weaknesses, deploying effective solutions, increasing employee efficiency and embodying a vision.
