The Public Information Office uses a multimedia approach to provide accurate, relevant and timely information to the public about Hernando County events, news, programs and services. If threatening weather situations and other types of public emergencies arise, the Public Information Office works together with the appropriate agencies to ensure that accurate and timely information is provided via our website, social media and news media.

Hernando County Offices Closed in Observance of Veterans Day

(Brooksville, FL) – The following Hernando County Government offices/services will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in observance of Veterans Day

  • All Hernando County Government offices
  • Library Services

These offices will continue normal operations on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

Hernando County Solid Waste Facilities:

The West Hernando and East Hernando Solid Waste Convenience Centers as well as the Main Landfill, located at 14450 Landfill Road in Brooksville, will remain open with normal operating hours on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Republic Services will be providing trash, recycling, and yard waste collection services on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

Please call Republic Services at (352) 540-6457 for questions regarding your curbside service.

Hernando County Transit (TheBus) will be providing services as normal on Tuesday, November 11, 2024.  

In honor of Veterans Day, TheBus will be providing free rides to Veterans with proof of veteran status on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
