Public Workshop Announced for Rise Empowerment Center in Brooksville

(Brooksville, FL) โ€“ Hernando County Housing and Supportive Services will be conducting a Public Inquiry Workshop regarding the proposed Rise Empowerment Center / Food Bank, planned for the former Department of Public Works site on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Brooksville.

Public Workshop Details:

โ€ข Date: Thursday, October 16, 2025
โ€ข Time: 5:00pm โ€“ 6:30pm.
โ€ข Location: South Brooksville Community Center / Sheriff Substation
o 601 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Brooksville, FL 34601

The Rise Empowerment Center / Food Bank has the potential to transform lives in our community by improving access to food and promoting education and empowerment. A warehouse and public event space with the empowerment center incorporating other venues of assistance or office space to provide programs for entrepreneurship, public markets, education and training, direct social services, and an outdoor event space. A community friendly location accessible for disaster recovery, community events, and other needs while being able to pivot to accommodate changes in need. The area will provide a safe, welcoming space for residents, encouraging positive interactions and fostering a sense of belonging with community-based support among residents.

Residents are encouraged to attend the workshop to receive information about the proposed project and provide their input for the Board of County Commissionersโ€™ consideration.
