Hernando County Government Phishing Email Alert

(Brooksville, FL) – It has been brought to the attention of Hernando County Government that a phishing email is going around appearing as if it were on behalf of Hernando County Government’s Procurement Department.

This particular email asks for vendors to pay a “Contract Security Deposit” before a deadline to avoid late fees by transferring money into a Non-County Bank Account. This email did not come from Hernando County Government and has been directly reported to multiple levels of law enforcement.

The Hernando County Government does not send banking information via email and would not ask for transfers of large sums of money.
