PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD NOTICE

HERNANDO COUNTY CDBG MITIGATION CRITICAL HARDENING FACILITY GRANT
FIRE STATION #7 HARDENING

Hernando County is developing an Application for the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity Community Development Block Grant-Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) Critical Hardening Facility Grant.  The County is seeking input from potential stakeholders and the public on the grant application. 

The County is applying for approximately $1,944,328.33 to mitigate the risks to the protected Community Lifelines of Safety and Security, Health and Medical, Food/Water/Sheltering through the critical hardening of the County’s Fire Station #7. These funds must be used for the following purposes:

To address mitigation and resiliency needs in the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) identified Most Impacted and Distressed (MID) areas, and state-identified MID areas that were declared disaster areas eligible for both Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Public Assistance, categories A – G. The County’s proposed activities include, improvements to the existing County Fire Station #7 include: roof replacement, new impact doors & windows, clearing/grubbing/fill for expansion of station for interior sheltering area, new flooring/lights, bunker, and EMS storage & containment areas.   

A public announcement of these funds and the proposed project was posted on the County’s Website and an advertisement was published in the local paper. The public is invited to provide comments on the CDBG-MIT Critical Facility Hardening Program Project. A draft application has been developed and the public is invited to review the draft application posted on the County’s web at https://www.hernandocounty.us/CFHP or to view a hard copy by contacting Kelly Trout, Finance Manager, Hernando County Fire Rescue at phone: (352) 754-4282 or email: Kelly Trout KTrout@co.hernando.fl.us. Written comments can be provided to Kelly Trout and MUST be received no later than June 28, 2020. Copies of the Application will be made available in Spanish upon request.
