EOC Alert 1 - Severe Weather Potential

CURRENT SITUATION

According to the National Weather Service: “A cold front is expected to approach the region Thursday, February 6, 2020 and then pass through west-central and southwest Florida Thursday night/early Friday, February 7, 2020 morning… the main band of storms is expected to move through Thursday evening and overnight. The Storm Prediction Center has outlooked much of our region in a “Slight Risk” for severe weather, meaning a few storms are expected to contain damaging winds and/or isolated tornadoes. However, at this time a widespread severe weather event is not anticipated. Storms exit the region early Friday morning, followed by quickly improving conditions. There exists some risk for minor coastal flooding, especially north of Tampa Bay Thursday night at the time of high tide.”
