Hernando County Emergency Operations Center has shifted from level 2 partial activation status to level 3 monitoring status as of 7 p.m. today as the impacts of Hurricane Michael move past the region.

All sandbag distribution sites have been closed.

The voluntary evacuation order will be lifted at sunrise on Thursday, October 11, following the 3:32 a.m. high tide. Residents may return to their home at that time. Please exercise extreme caution around flood waters; never walk or drive through a flooded street. Remember: turn around, don’t drown.

The county will continue to monitor storm conditions, specifically localized flooding, which could impact low-lying coastal areas during high tides overnight.

Hernando County Government’s Office of Emergency Management will keep you informed before, during and emergency situations. Visit the following web and social media sites for more information.
