2% of the world’s water is frozen and therefore unusable.

We drink very little of our drinking water. Generally speaking, less than 1% of the treated water produced by water utilities is actually consumed. The rest goes on lawns, in washing machines, and down toilets and drains.

Facts About Florida's Water

Twenty five percent of the water used to irrigate the more than 1,100 golf courses in Florida was obtained from reclaimed wastewater.

Nearly 90 percent of the 16 million residents of Florida obtain their drinking water from public supply water systems.

Facts About Hernando County Wells

West Hernando consists of 47 wells. These wells have a combined design capacity of 44.753 MGD ( million gallons per day).

East Hernando consists of 10 wells. These wells have a combined designed capacity of 3.268 MGD. Other District Systems consist of 7 wells with a combined design capacity of 1.462 MGD.

Hernando Counties Total Capacity = 49.483 Million Gallons per Day.
