Safety
and health is the responsibility of everyone. The
Board of County Commissioners is committed to
ensuring that everyone has safe and healthy working
conditions. This obligation is owed to each employee
and citizen of Hernando County since there is a
direct relationship between the personal and
monetary cost of accidents and our ability to
provide reliable cost-effective services.
Effective implementation of a comprehensive safety
program depends upon a commitment of each department
head, as well as each individual. Identification and
correction of all safety hazards must have immediate
and decisive action. Safety and health requirements
will be strictly adhered to and requirements for any
specific projects will be detailed in Hernando
County’s Safety Procedures.
Applicable methods of education and training will be
used to assure that the work force is capable of
completing their assignments in a safe and competent
manner. Only through a good safety and loss control
program and a positive attitude toward safety and
responsibility can we achieve a goal of effective
support to our employees and citizens. Personal
safety and safety of equipment and facilities will
be our primary consideration on any job or facility.
Under no circumstances will we deviate from these
procedures.
