The Hernando County Recreation Department is dedicated to providing a quality leisure
activities for all our citizens. We strive to offer residents and visitors
opportunities for recreation and improvement of physical and mental
well-being, through programs and services that enhance their quality of
life.
Our primary goal is to provide safe, clean and functional parks and
recreation facilities, and to assist in the planning and development of new
and improved facilities to meet the continued growth within the county. We
are committed to fulfilling our mission through visionary leadership,
individual dedication, and the responsible use of available resources.

Bark Island Event Fee Change Posted 12/26/2012 Effective January 26, 2013, the fees for the Bark Island Event held at Pine Island will be $7.00 for the first dog and $3.00 for each additional dog for those participants that bring more than one dog to the event.

22nd Annual Halloween Harvest Festival Posted 10/18/2012 22nd Halloween Harvest Festival will be offered FOUR evenings: October 19/20 and October 26/27 Hernando County Fairgrounds 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm. NEW: Masquerade Ball 10 /27 (9pm – midnight). On all evenings: carnival-type games, hay rides, haunted house, food, entertainment. Friday 10/19: pet masquerade. Lake Lindsey Boat Ramp reopened Posted 8/14/2012 Effective August 13, 2012 the Lake Lindsey Boat Ramp located at Lake Village Lane, Brooksville has been reopened for small vessel launching. The public should use caution while becoming familiar with the depth of the water bodies from recent rains. For further information, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 754-4027.
