What is Mosquito Control?

Mosquito control is the method used to reduce mosquito populations.  We're called mosquito "control" because that's all we or anyone can do - control mosquitoes.  The service we provide is only a temporary fix, because sooner or later, they WILL be back!

If you don't know anything else about mosquitoes you probably know they need water to exist.  We live in Florida, a mass of land not only surrounded on three sides by water, but filled with rivers, lakes and swamps.   And, we have the summer rainy season to contend with, which significantly increases potential breeding sites for mosquitoes.

Throughout the year our field technicians monitor and treat approximately 370 sq. miles within the county.  That's a large amount of land needing treatment.  An extra obstacle to treatment and control is approximately 160 sq. miles of environmentally sensitive land pockets that are "hands off" to chemical treatment.  In other words, these lands are free-for-all breeding grounds for mosquitoes that sometimes venture outside these protected habitats in search of food and new breeding grounds... an added challenge so to speak.

Our job, therefore, is twofold:

1. Locate and treat areas we have access to that are breeding or have the potential to breed

2. Eliminate those mosquitoes that have taken to wing (flying adults)

We accomplish this task by using an Integrated Pest Management plan of attack.  Please click below to learn more about "IPM."
