The Public Information Office uses a multimedia approach to provide accurate, relevant and timely information to the public about Hernando County events, news, programs and services.


Emergency Information
During threatening weather situations and other types of public emergencies, the Public Information Office works together with the appropriate agencies to ensure that accurate and timely information is provided via our website, social media, Channel 644 and news media.


Government Broadcasting channel 644 on Bright House Networks
Hernando County Government Broadcasting (HCGB) is a 24-hour cable channel that provides quality informational and educational programs to its viewers. HCGB provides live coverage and online video-on-demand of Hernando County Board of County Commission, Planning and Zoning, Hernando/Citrus MPO, Brooksville City Council and other local government advisory meetings. In addition, the station produces original programming featuring community services and events. HCGB also offers video services for a fee. Citizen Committees
Hernando County has 11 citizen committees that carry out specialized functions of county government. Serving on a citizen committee is an excellent opportunity for residents to become involved in county operations while serving the community. Volunteer Program
Citizens can become more involved with Hernando County government by volunteering as a "Partner in Public Service". Whether a member of an advisory board or committee; helping to create a haunted house with our recreation staff; helping to landscape a County park; or assembling binders for our "County Connection" program, there are hundreds of ways citizens can contribute their time and talents and make new friends along the way.
