ELECTRICAL
Section 2705 and the exception
regarding GFCI protection of swimming pool
equipment has been deleted from the 2010 Florida Building Code.
GFCI protection of pool equipment must comply with section 680.22(B)
of the 2008 National Electric Code... "Outlets supplying pool pump
motors from branch circuits with short-circuit and ground-fault
protection rated 15 or 20 amperes, 125 volt or 240 volt, single phase,
whether by receptacle or direct connection, shall be provided with
ground-fault circuit- interrupter protection for personnel."

The mission of the Building Division

County through efficient and effective implementation of building codes
and County regulations.
Objectives
-
Issue building
and zoning permits for construction projects in Hernando County.

Conduct inspections
of building, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work at various stages
of construction.

Issue and
maintain contractor licenses.
-
Process the
initial review of residential applications within five working days,
and process the initial review of completed commercial applications
with fifteen working days.
-
Adopt and
enforce the Florida Building Code.

Pursuant to the Florida
Building Code, the following categories of products must be
approved under the Florida Product Approval System:
- Panel Walls
- Exterior Doors
- Roofing Products
- Skylights
- Windows
- Shutters
- Structural Components
- New and Innovative Building
Envelope Products
Hernando County requires
completed "Product Approval" forms for these categories
submitted with your plans and building permit application for
new construction or remodeling of existing habitable structures.
Failure to submit the required forms will delay plan review
of your permit.
