Welcome
"ATTENTION CONTRACTORS"
The 2010 Edition of the Florida Building Code becomes effective in the
State of Florida on March 15, 2012. All applications submitted for
permitting
on or after this date must comply with these codes, and the
correct code citation must be included on the plans.

Building plans submitted on or after March 15, 2012 will be
reviewed under Florida Building Code 2010.

***NOTICE OF IMPACT FEE REVISION***
Hernando County Ordinance 2011-20 revised
the County’s impact fee ordinance as follows:
1. Suspension of
impact fees on all building permits issued
between November 23, 2011, and November 15, 2012.
2. Non-residential buildings over five (5) years old are no
longer subject to impact fees.

The mission of the Building Division
is to promote the health, safety, and welfare of the residents of Hernando
County through efficient and effective implementation of building codes
and County regulations.
Goals
-
Issue building
permits for construction projects in Hernando County.

Conduct inspections
of building, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work at various stages
of construction.

Issue and
maintain contractor licenses.
-
Process the
initial review of residential applications within eight working days,
and process the initial review of completed commercial applications
with fifteen working days.
-
Adopt and
enforce the 2004 Florida Building Code.

Attention Contractors
Pursuant to the Florida
Building Code, the following categories of products must be
approved under the Florida Product Approval System:
- Panel Walls
- Exterior Doors
- Roofing Products
- Skylights
- Windows
- Shutters
- Structural Components
- New and Innovative Building
Envelope Products
Effective August 1, 2004 -
Hernando County requires
completed "Product Approval" forms for these categories
submitted with your plans and building permit application for
new construction or remodeling of existing habitable structures.
Failure to submit the required forms will delay plan review
of your permit.
