The mission
of the Animal Services Division is to operate and maintain
an animal shelter, to respond to citizen’s service requests
about animal related issues, and to enforce County ordinances
and state laws to protect the health, safety, and welfare
of the citizens and the animals of Hernando County.

Fees are
both for regular citizen adoptions and rescue
groups, effective immediately.
All animals older than 8 weeks of age will be
sterilized, vaccinated for rabies, heartworm
tested (dogs), FIV/FeLV tested (cats), general
dewormer, deflea, 6-in-1 vaccine (dogs) or
4-in-1 vaccine (cats), and a 1-yr county animal
license issued if the adopter lives in Hernando
County.

sick and injured animals in the custody of Hernando County Animal
Services and in providing medical consultation and advice to ensure
the best care for all of our animals.
Special Thanks to the PetLuv Non-Profit
Spay and Neuter Clinic for donating free vaccinations and sterilizations
for all animals adopted from Hernando County Animal Services to
private homes. This generous donation allows more animals to be
adopted and provides a substantial savings to Hernando County and
to the Adopters of our homeless pets.
